Welcome to SoConFans.com 2nd annual basketball pick'em contest!  Please note, this is a beta-version of the software, errors could occur...remember it is a free game, you get what you pay for...no whining!  We have tested this now for two seasons and it worked pretty seamlessly, so hopefully the trend will continue.

Here is how it works.  Click on the icon above or below to take you to the game site.  You will need to register, but all we ask is for your name and a valid email. 

If you have played an game with Mocfans/SoConfan, you name/password is in the system.  If you have forgotten your password, email me at david "at" mocfans.com (change "at" to @) and I will try to get you your password as quickly as possible.  The first week starts very soon (sorry, this was as quick as I could put it together), so if you are worried about getting a password, you might find it easier to just sign up again (use you same name...just add a 2 to the end, I.E. "soconfan2")

You will get to pick a school...that will let you compete in a group of your own fans...if you do not have a school affiliation, you can also enter the independent group.  After week two, we will have an overall leaderboard established that will show all the groups.

ENRTY DEADLINE AND LOCKTIME: you can enter at any time, even after the game has begun.  The first games will be Monday, January 10th.  Locktime for all games is FOUR HOURS  before the game starts (i.e. 7pm games will lock at 3pm).  Each week start on Saturday and end no later than Wednesday.  I will have up the next weeks games up no later than 3am on Thursday morning.  This will give you more than 2 full days to make the next round of picks.

Scoring:  The first 10 games are worth one (1) point each, the two bonus games will be worth two (2) points each...the last game will always be a women's match-up (I try to pick the most competitive game). 

Prizes: I do not have anything set up for sure yet, but there will be some prize packages.  They will hopefully consist of tickets to the SoCon tournament and some gift certificates to local restaurants or clubs.

Second Chance bracket:  New this year, whether I come up with a prize or not, we will be recognizing the "second chance winner"…that will be the person that has the best overall total, but missed the first week of competition.

Tie-breakers:  If there is a tie for the overall lead, 1st tie-break will be best record in picking bonus games, 2nd tie- break will be best record picking women's bonus games only, 3rd tie-break will be a random drawing.

Note: I will be participating (Chattanoogamocs), but will be ineligible for prizes.  I have a good friend that set up this program and he is the admin, not me…at no time can I see any other players picks, nor can I change any entries after the locktime.  I am merely playing for pride!
